Learning to be in the water this way requires focus and presence. Students are learning a new way of moving and being. They are often amazed and inspired by the experience. They regularly comment that the training is way better than expected. But also more challenging.
Yes. You will learn a simple sequence to practice with friends and family. This is practice only and cannot be provided as a paid service. To offer paid services, students need to complete the full WABA accredited WATSU® Practitioner program. There are some specific exceptions. Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, trained NDIS Support Workers, Doulas & Midwives who are already working in the water therapeutically will be able to incorporate the Basic WATSU® sequence into their existing work.
The WATSU® Practitioner program is extensive and typically takes several years to complete. You will be required to complete WATSU®1, WATSU®2 and WATSU®3 plus additional electives. The quantity of electives depends on prior learning and current qualifications. Recognition of Prior Learning is assessed on a case-by-case basis. Basic WATSU® is foundational and contributes to approved elective hours. You have to complete a minimum of 200 training hours in the water. You will also be required to log practice sessions, participate in supervisions, demonstrate competency/mastery, and also receive professional sessions from accredited Practitioners.
Becoming a skilled practitioner takes time and hours in the water. Although the Practitioner Program seems extensive it represents the basic requirements. You’re learning a new way of moving and being with bodies and all that this involves. Basic WATSU is the best starting point to discover if becoming a practitioner is the right journey for you.
A list of aquatic electives is available on the WABA website. It includes WATSU®, WaterDance™️, Fluid Presence®, Aquatic Integration™️ and Healing Dance® modules. Training completed in these modalities is recognised and logged on the WABA Registry, and counts towards the WATSU® Practitioner qualification. These modalities each have their own Practitioner Program.
To offer paid services, students need to complete the full WABA Accredited WATSU® Practitioner program.
You must be a WABA Accredited WATSU® Practitioner before you can use WATSU® in any marketing communications. WATSU® is a Registered Trademark and a Registered Service Mark in the US, Europe and Asia and is assigned to Calias Patricia Dull daughter of founder Harold Dull.
