WHAT IS DANCE WISDOM?

Dance Wisdom weaves in Rebecca's lifetime of dance experience including 5Rhythms, Sylvie Minot’s Medicine Circle, Body Mind Centering, Authentic Movement and Open Floor. Her outreach dance classes to recovering addicts, veterans and incarcerated women have a strong influence on her work as does her exploration of many yoga, movement, breath and somatic practices. She is also a certified WaterDance™️ Practitioner.

PUBLIC CLASSES

When dancing, the intuitive flow of body-mind-spirit connects us to self, other, our fluid environment and beyond. And so each Dance Wisdom class is an intimate dive into inquisitive movement. We attune to the present experience in a way that is relational, grounded, expansive, creative and original. Themes vary; we may explore the subtlety of the body, the latent boldness of our expression, meeting and being met by human and non-human beings and matter. The creative possibilities are limitless.

Class content is accessible to all levels, with no specific steps to follow or expectations for how to move. There is a clear intention for each class, and the space is safe, generous and contained. Together we co-create an experience rich in community, acceptance, creative expression, insight and that exquisite dance floor feeling of freedom and joy.

Classes are deep and playful. Rebecca holds the space sensitively while guiding the group to attune to themselves and each other. You feel her passion for movement. How it supports us to build somatic intelligence and expand our body's vocabulary.

Public Classes are currently on pause and will recommence in 2024.

OUTREACH

Rebecca loves sharing the honesty of Dance Wisdom with outreach communities. She feels honoured to connect with diverse people in this way. Dance is unifying. It allows us to feel safe in our bodies, to express our emotional world, to experience being in community and being seen.

Rebecca has more than ten years experience bringing movement to people in drug and alcohol recovery. She loves this community. They’re on a journey of surrender and truth seeking. She's designed a movement program that aligns with the twelve-step recovery program. This inclusive program meets people where they are at and anyone can participate and enjoy it. She has taught classes to recovering addicts, at-risk youth, veterans, the elderly, incarcerated women and people with mental health issues.

Contact Rebecca if you're interested in bringing movement to your community.

“On the dance floor we play with the many flavours of relationship – bold, subtle, sensual, angry. We master listening, feeling, tuning in - with ourselves, others, community, earth and beyond.”
